Geography Objectives




1. The school’s curriculum of Geography aims to help students to achieve excellent result in the newly implemented Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) public examination. To do this, the curriculum follows the aims and expectation of Education Bureau, and thus set in accordance with the principles of New Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum;


2. The curriculum targets at motivating and cultivating students’ interest toward the subject of Geography;

3. Students will have immense study on the inseparable and mutual influence between human activities and the natural environment;


4. Geography allows students to explore and discover the diversity of natural environment throughout the globe, and how one environment in a particular place interacts and affects its counterpart in another;


5. Geography enables students to observe and appreciate the connectedness between the subject content and their day-to-day living, as well as the surrounding natural and urban environment close to their familiar hometown and community;


6. Under the approach of spatial analysis, students will understand the detail insights behind variety of geographical themes and issues;


7. The subject allows students to acquire variety of technical and generic skills, including but not limited to:
  • Map-reading (Topographical map is focused)
  • Aerial photos analysis
  • Data analysis (Atlases, weather charts)
  • Decision-making
  • Problem-solving
8. Geography’s curriculum is highly attached with themes related to environmental protection and sustainable development. As such students are expected to examine in detail on popular topics, including climate change and its impacts on variety of aspects;


9. Students are also expected to explore and investigate proper means to tackle global challenges onto our natural environment, including efficient resource management;


10. Values such as being environmental protection, appreciation on the essentiality of interdependence and cooperation among countries, nations and people, are incorporated throughout the curriculum, enabling students to become an eco-friendly and responsible citizen of the global village.
